When selsyns are connected together they will track with one another when rotated. If a selsyn is connected to an indicator such as an I-81 you can place it out oif doors with a wind vane on it and it will cause the indicator to show the direction of the wind. For best action you should use 26v 400Hz, but you can use with lesser/poorer resolution a lower voltage 60hz power. Various manufacturers. used
